I began practicing hot Yoga in 2011 – it changed my life – made me calmer, happier, stronger mentally and physically and changed me like no fitness class, gym or amount of running ever did. After 2 years I loved it so much I wanted to train as a teacher. In 2013 I flew to Los Angeles to undertake 9 weeks of intensive Bikram Yoga Teacher training. I’ve been teaching yoga now for 5 years and taken further study to train as a Pilates Instructor and Yin Yoga Teacher. I love the combination of all 3 styles as they complement each other beautifully.
To feel I am making a difference in my students lives by helping to create a lovely inclusive yoga community here and leave my students after class feeling better, calmer and happier than when they arrived – makes my happy.
One of my favourite quotes is “Never too old, never too sick, never too late to do yoga and start from scratch once again” All Yoga is good and I believe the future of health and wellness lies in practicing yoga – yoga is medicine.
I have been an educator for many years. My yoga classes focus on catering for all abilities and levels and creating a safe, inclusive, fun, relaxing environment.
I come from a movement background into Iyengar Yoga, and ahve studied Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga. My classes vary each week, with themes and music to accompany the session. The classes focus on building strength, increasing flexibility, breath work and quietening the mind.
I believes that everyone can do yoga.
"If you can breath you can do yoga". BKS Iyengar.
My first experience with a formal yoga class was back in 2013. After years running competitvely I was looking for a form of stress relief, something that was a little gentler on the body and something to rest my body and mind. An activity that would promote recovery and restoration. I fell in love with yoga, but also discovered that it was something that I had unknowingly been implementing my entire life, in the form of stretching. Yoga has provided my daily stretch with more meaning and greater balance and awareness.
Practising Yoga since 2013, and Teaching since 2017, it now plays a pivotal role in my wellbeing. After studying and becaming a qualified in Vinyasa Yoga, through the Aura Wellness Centre, being a qualified Level Three Athletics Australia Accredited Running Coach, Health and Physical Education Teacher with over sixteen years’ experience, and also having a postgraduate in Mental Health for Teaching Professionals, I regularly utilise my knowledge and experience from all these areas to deliver my own individual style of yoga teaching. The focus is on providing a space for individuals to find calm in their day, and peace in their body and minds. Provide opportunity for improvements in strength, and greater movement in the body. Also having a particular focus on the Runner’s body, allowing for improvements in flexibility through the gentle undoing of the impacts and imbalances running can create.
One of my favourite quotes is "Still the mind and the soul will speak."
Pilates and Yoga classes are held daily at BIG4 Beacon Resort.
