I began practicing hot Yoga in 2011 – it changed my life – made me calmer, happier, stronger mentally and physically and changed me like no fitness class, gym or amount of running ever did. After 2 years I loved it so much I wanted to train as a teacher. In 2013 I flew to Los Angeles to undertake 9 weeks of intensive Bikram Yoga Teacher training. I’ve been teaching yoga now for 5 years and taken further study to train as a Pilates Instructor and Yin Yoga Teacher. I love the combination of all 3 styles as they complement each other beautifully.
To feel I am making a difference in my students lives by helping to create a lovely inclusive yoga community here and leave my students after class feeling better, calmer and happier than when they arrived – makes my happy.
One of my favourite quotes is “Never too old, never too sick, never too late to do yoga and start from scratch once again” All Yoga is good and I believe the future of health and wellness lies in practicing yoga – yoga is medicine.
I have been practicing yoga and meditation on and off for 15 years. I used Yoga alongside my Taekwondo training.
I'm a black belt and competed in National Championships when I was younger. My proudest moment when I became Australian Champion at age 16.
I began teaching Taekwondo in Melbourne from the age of 16 and ran 2 classes a week. Teaching children and adults.
I love the stillness it brings me and the mental clarity and focus. To me Yoga is about quieting the mind, going inwards, peeling back the layers and revealing our deepest truest version of who we are.
This is not easy but with time and constant practice does get easier.
In 2016 beginning the two year journey with Jill Harris of Yoga Bijam and Kyo Yoga in Ocean Grove. The tradition I am trained in is Vinyasa.
I love vedic chant and sometimes incorporate this in my classes. I love the healing powers and energy that chanting can have.
Yoga is a constant journey of self development and growth for me and I can't imagine my life without it.
Yoga is for everyone, all abilities and age.
"I believe the world would be a much more peaceful place if we all practiced yoga."
I started my yoga journey with a strong physical practice however with time, further study and motherhood my yoga practice has become less focused on the physical body. As a teacher, I deliver a balanced class focusing on quietening the mind, physical strength and relaxation. My intention is to share my knowledge and experience of yoga, and to encourage self-reflection. I believes yoga helps you get to know yourself and the way you relate to others, and how one lives in the world. Listening to your body, ongoing learning and enjoying yoga are integral aspects to my teaching and practice. My yoga teaching style is best described as fusion yoga as it draws on many different styles and is constantly evolving.
After nearly 20 years of personal yoga practice I know that with yoga, significant positive changes happen over a period of time; and that yoga is a great support in navigating the challenges of daily life. I have more than ten years experience teaching yoga and meditation to adults, children and seniors on the Bellarine; and 15 years experience in teaching and management in education. I hold Master of Educational Studies (with research in mindfulness), BA in Social Sciences, Grad Dip Education, Cert IV Training and Assessment, Diploma of Classical Yoga, Advanced Diploma in Meditation and Counselling, and qualifications in children’s yoga, writing, art therapy, reiki and massage.
One of my favourite quotes is "Still the mind and the soul will speak."
