Superfoods! Everybody’s talking about them right now – but what are they and how can we get them into our daily diet to boost our health potential?
Mud's very own naturopath, Jade Ogilvy has the answers - and has created a special superfood Mud Ball... full of pure deliciousness!
Read on for all the details (and the recipe)!
Super Foods are classic foods that offer a potent supply of phytochemicals such as antioxidants and nutrients such as Protein, Fibre, Essential Fatty Acids, Vitamins and Minerals.
There is an amazing array of Superfoods including Cacao, Goji Berries, Cranberry, Pomegranate, Chia Seeds, Acai, Macca, Kale and it’s easy to stock the pantry and fridge with the goodness of them. To be honest all unprocessed wholefoods should be considered “Super”… nuts, seeds, seasonal fruits and vegetables are all SUPER!
Zoning in on Cacao
Raw Cacao, pronounced (Cu-Cow), has an abundance of antioxidants which play a role in scavaging the cell damaging free radicals within the body.
This makes Cacao protective against perhaps all disease of man (and woman) kind, whether it be inflammatory, autoimmune, cancer, heart health and so on. It is packed with minerals such as Iron supporting oxygen transportation and magnesium which supports healthy heart and brain function.
Not only does Cacao make us healthy, eating this Superfood also makes us feel happy. It has a high content of my favorite amino acid Tryptophan. In the body Tryptophan converts to Serotonin, our feel good and energetic neurotransmitter, otherwise known as the “Happy Hormone”. Why wouldn’t you want more Tryptophan in your diet?
To celebrate my love of Cacao I’m going to share with you our recipes for Mud Energy Balls. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
